KORE

Kinaesthetic Optimum Recovery Enhancement

KORE Logo
KORE is a gentle therapy which combines Traditional Chinese Medicine with Western techniques including releasing restrictions in the spine, pelvis and neck to promote all-over wellbeing. It is unique from other therapies as it uses functional muscle testing to identify and treat underlying root causes to many conditions, injuries and imbalances as well as using it to fine-tune the body for long term prevention and/or improved sports performance.
If you would like to know more, watch this short film by John Brazier, the founder, to give you an introduction to KORE and how it could help you: What is KORE?

What you can expect at your appointment?

Your appointment begins with a consultation to discuss your medical history and current state of health.  Combining this information with muscle testing will give me a good idea of where your symptoms originate and allow me to provide a targeted therapy plan using one or more of the techniques listed below.

Spinal release

A combination of methods are used to release and mobilise the spine so that the body can move more freely.  Techniques such as Tui Na, a dry Chinese massage; gentle stretching and mobilising of arms and legs followed by a neck release.

Cupping therapy

Traditional Chinese Cupping uses heated glass cups to create suction.  Cupping disperses toxins, mobilises blood and lymph flow whilst increasing the flow of oxygen around the body.  This therapy is commonly used for tight muscles, trapped nerves, pain, migraines, fatigue, anxiety, depression, colds, flu, asthma, fibromyalgia.  Cupping can be done on most parts of the body; it is pain free and the majority of clients say they find it relaxing.

This treatment may leave cupping marks which could last up to several days.

Anmo-Fu

Anmo-Fu is a deep oil-based massage of the abdominal region.  It is used for balancing the internal organs, to clear blockages and stimulate the flow of energy thereby promoting good health.  This is often used when suffering from digestive problems, lower back pain, fatigue, headaches, weight issues, skin problems and emotional problems. Food & chemical intolerances may also be tested.

Cranial balancing and stress release

Cranial balancing and stress release is a gentle and relaxing therapy which involves the light placing of hands on various parts of the head.   It works with the body’s innate ability to balance and restore.  This therapy is frequently used for stress release, insomnia, migraines, headaches, tinnitus, eye pain/strain, hormonal imbalances.

What else do you need to know?

Treatment is fully clothed with your shoes removed.

If cupping therapy is recommended, then only the areas to be cupped will be exposed.  This is most often your back but may also be the area where the pain is originating.

If Anmo Fu (abdominal massage) is recommended, then only your abdominal region will be exposed.

I recommend you wear comfortable clothing which consists of separate top and bottom should you require cupping or Anmo Fu.

Clinical acupuncture

Clinical acupuncture uses fine needles which are inserted at specific points on the body for therapeutic purposes and to boost overall health and wellbeing. It is used for almost any complaint, for example low energy or chronic fatigue, digestive issues, infertility (male and female), menopausal symptoms, pain relief, migraines, panic attacks and depression. Sometimes moxabustion may also be used, especially for those who would benefit from acupuncture but do not like needles. Moxabustion involves burning the dried herb mugwort on certain areas of the body or on acupuncture points to create heat. As the herb smoulders slowly, a therapeutic warmth permeates the skin and affects the flow of blood and ‘Qi’ to the area being treated.

How clinical acupuncture works

Chinese medicine believes there is a complex network of channels, known as the meridian system, which transports the fundamental substances of Qi (energy), blood and body fluids to every part of the body.  These substances are different from the common Western understanding and relate to flow of energy.  It is when there is a blockage or disturbance in the meridian system that health issues and pain arise.   Acupuncture activates an electrical stimulation to restore flow and balance to the body and mind.

What should I wear?

Depending on your health issue, wearing loose clothing with a separate top and bottom allows some acupuncture to be achieved fully clothed, although this is not always possible and items of clothing may have to be removed and replaced with a towel.

What will I feel?

The fineness of the needles means that the majority of the time these are not felt, however you may feel sensations such as a zing, pinch, or ache.  Should you experience any discomfort, then the needle will be adjusted or removed if it remains uncomfortable.

What else do you need to know?

After the treatment some people can feel energised, relaxed and sometimes sleepy, so please plan the rest of your day to take this into account. Acupuncture may also cause bruising or slight bleeding.

EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique

Commonly referred to as EFT or tapping, this is a surprisingly powerful, drug-free and easy to learn technique which is used for almost anything on an emotional level such as stress, anxiety, insomnia to raising energy levels, increasing relaxation, building confidence and creating states for peak performance. As the emotional body and physical body are interwoven there can be physical benefits too, for example reducing stress leads to a healthier physical body.

How EFT works

When we get stuck with negative emotions or patterns of behaviour, blockages occur in our energy system and we stop performing at our optimum. Replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts, reduces anxiety and increases mental and physical wellbeing. Just like acupuncture, EFT works on the meridian system of the body but the points are stimulated by tapping or massaging lightly with your fingers rather than using needles. This is done whilst ‘tuning into’ the area you wish to change. The intensity of negative energy reduces each time the tapping sequence is completed until full balance to the energy system is restored. Consequently, positive states are further increased with the tapping sequence until the desired state of performance is achieved. As EFT works on the energy body, it focuses on what you are experiencing right now and negates the need to explore and analyse past and painful experiences.

What you can expect at your appointment?

Your appointment can be face to face at my clinic or via Zoom/Skype from a location of your choice (if you have a private and quiet area free from interruptions).
The treatment takes place in a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor.
After your session, I will send you a handout with the tapping points so you can carry on at home if you wish.

Does it really work?

You may like to read studies carried out on the benefits of EFT and I have attached a link to some of them. EFT is being used in specialist areas of the NHS and its popularity is spreading across the world. However, you don’t have to know how it works for it to have results. With an open mind, you can experience the benefits of higher energy states, increased feelings of creativity, confidence, clarity of mind and enthusiasm for life. Tapping Studies

The history of EFT

Dr Roger Callahan was the original founder of tapping techniques and the person who discovered that by tapping on meridian points on the body, people started to feel better. This led to the development of Classic EFT by Gary Craig in the 1990s but has its roots in acupuncture, kinesiology and psychology. If you would like to know more about the history of tapping, please follow this link The history of tapping

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-key’) is a simple, natural and safe technique used for deep relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety, boosting energy and encourages mental, emotional and physical self-healing. It involves the gentle laying of hands by a practitioner on the client’s body in a series of hand positions on the head torso and legs, sometimes hovering the hands rather than touching.

How Reiki works

It is based on the idea that an unseen ‘Universal Life Force Energy’ flows through us and is what makes us living beings. If this energy is low then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress and, if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. This energy is drawn through the practitioner’s hands into the recipient, helping to produce a state of balance. During the process, the whole person is being treated, not one specific area and as the healing force enters the body it is automatically directed to the area or organs where it is needed most.

What else do you need to know?

Treatment is fully clothed with your shoes removed.
You may experience feelings such as deep relaxation, heat, tingling, a feeling of floating or perhaps nothing at all. It varies a lot from one person to another, but no matter what you feel, Reiki allows you to take what you need.
The effects of Reiki build up cumulatively and the best results come through having a course of treatments to produce long-term beneficial changes.

The history of Reiki

REIKI, a Japanese word (pronounced ‘ray-key’), which translated means Universal Life Force Energy. The founder of Reiki as natural healing was Dr Mikao Usui in the late 1800s. Through intensive research, he translated early Buddhist scripts and uncovered the ancient method of healing.

Colour Mirrors

The Colour Mirrors system consists of bottles of coloured oils and essences and is based on the concept that we are attracted to different colours dependent on what is going on for us at the time. You may have noticed that some days you want to wear a bright colour and another day you are attracted to something totally different, or you may be someone who is always attracted to the same colour.

The beautiful colour(s) contained in each bottle form a unique meaning which can aid clarity and self-awareness in all aspects of life from work, health, patterns of behaviour and relationships.

Alison Niddrie Therapist and Coaching coloured mirrors

By bathing in the oils or spritzing the essences around your body and into your hands, they connect to your energy body, bypassing the conscious mind and assisting self-healing. This is a fun system to play with, containing positive messages that can be thought-provoking and uplifting.

What else do you need to know?

I mainly work with the Essence sprays and if you would like these included to enhance your EFT, Reiki or Coaching session then just let me know as there is an additional £5.00 charge.
